Aviva wanted a way to hang up wet clothes from the washer and let them dry. We have a rod over our laundry sink, but even long shirts touch the bottom. Scott offered to make a drying rack to keep Aviva from buying one, and boy did it end up fancier than she expected. It's made out of bird's eye maple, and Scott's own design. Scott knew Aviva likes curves, so he made the ends curvy even though it required a trip to Pasco, Wash., to use his parents' bandsaw. (He now has one of his own.) Note the interesting joint holding the piece together. This was Scott's Christmas 2000 gift to Aviva.
