Fence with a heart-shaped trellis gate
In Summer 2000, Scott set about building a fence for our back yard. We'd gotten bids from several contractors, but Scott wasn't impressed with workmanship since most of them used staples or nailguns on the fence boards instead of screws. Scott used 6x6 beams for the corners of the yard and 4x4s on the ends of each panel. He also made his own lattice for the frame, cutting small strips of wood and nailing them up. The following summer, he surprised Aviva by designing and making a heart-shaped gate with a trellis for the fence. Someday we hope the clematis will grow up high enough to peek through the heart.
