Log Cabin Tote Bag

While making the log cabin lap quilt for my grandfather, I made an extra square. The Quilt In A Day book had a pattern for a tote bag that I thought looked pretty nifty. My mother had been asking me to make her something since she'd seen the quilt I made for Mitch & Katia's wedding, so I thought this was the perfect gift. It turned out to be a bit more challenging than I expected, but I got help at the Open Quilting sessions at Fabric Depot, and it all came together. Inside, there are two pockets -- one pen-sized and the other larger. There's also a label inside that my mother joked should have been put on the outside. I gave the tote bag to my mother for Mother's Day 2002.
